On Monday, your attorney emailed to say the last piece of your green card application is the medical exam, and you haven’t had one for immigration before. Before you book immigration physical appointments in Fairfax, VA, you’d like to know what to do the night before and how much time to take off work. Here’s how civil surgeon Dr. Connie Le runs the immigration exam I-693 at Annandale Primary Care.
What Happens First at My Immigration Medical Exam?
Our immigration exam page lays out the order. First, Dr. Le performs a physical examination, and our physical exam page notes that she’ll check your vitals, including your weight, heart rate and blood pressure. Next, she’ll give you any required vaccines. Then, she’ll order lab tests, such as TB screening or blood tests.
How Long Will My Immigration Physical and Follow-Up Take?
Ask when you book how long to block off, and whether your blood work needs a second visit. In most cases, our same-day immigration post notes, you’ll receive your results the day of your exam, with Form I-693 completed in a sealed envelope. In the event a TB result needs a second look, Dr. Le will tell you before you leave whether to come back, and when.
Rest assured, if you’re unsure about a step, you can call the office the day before and ask. Our offices on Old Lee Highway in Fairfax and Evergreen Lane in Annandale open at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, so an early slot leaves the rest of your day for work.
